Notes
Jessica went back to the village to continue teaching the community members how to build the fuel efficient stoves. This time the participants were also going to get involved in the stove building while Jeska assisted and guided them through out. This was important because the community needed to be empowered with the stove building skills so that they would begin building the stoves on their own. When she arrived in the village, she found when most of the first stove building stages were carried out by the participants such as fetching dirt, taking measurements and stamping it. Jeska guided the community on how to cut and shape the banana stems as well as taking measurements between the saucepans which was a bit challenging. Later after the members began building the stove step by step as Kibo staff guided them, and where they didn’t understand Jeska showed and corrected them. This was to make sure they mastered the steps very well. In the end, one stove was successfully built that day and Jeska thanked everyone for participating in the lessons. She also encouraged them to keep improving on their facilities by smearing them and repairing those which got spoiled. The community thanked Kibo staff for the lessons and wished each other a happy stay.
