Notes
Jeska went to the village to continue teaching the community how to build the fuel, efficient stoves. This time when she arrived, she found when most participants had already gathered at the meeting place with their group leaders. The group chairperson informed Kibo staff how they had gathered all the materials for building the stove at Edisa’s home . They walked together to the home and Jessica began measuring the dirt and grass while mixing it together with the help of six active male participants. After sprinkling water all over it, they began stamping it while singing and dancing until it got ready. Jessica with the help of some members began building the stove in the kitchen step by step as other members were watching aside. Some members kept on asking questions during the stove building lessons which was encouraged by Kibo staff. This was important because it helped them learn easily especially at the beginning stage. Jessica also went out and taught the community how to cut and level the banana stems that were going to be fixed in the stove. One of the participants mentioned some of the complicated stages of the stove building which needed real focus such as fixing of the banana stems for smoke, wind and fire to pass through as well as taking measurements at the floor where the stove can be constructed. Jessica explained to the community how it’s always important to pay attention during all the program lessons because it can enable them learn easily and master all the skills. In the end, one stove was successfully built and Jessica thanked everyone for participating in the lessons and she left the village.
