- Purpose of the visit to Ikumbya village, Manuela went to this village to review the previous lessons then teach about diseases Progression in HIV. This lesson enables participants to understand that it’s good to go for HIV so that they know if they are positive or negative and also to know all the stages of disease Progression in HIV. Manuela found participants already gathered waiting for her, she greeted them and asked the Life Skills teacher to open the meeting, she requested one of the participants to pray, after that he called the chairman to communicate to the participants, after that Manuela asked participants to remind her about the previous lesson taught by Lorna, some participants were able to share their ideas about what they learnt previously, after that exercise Manuela introduced the lessons of the day. Manuela asked the participants about what is disease Progression? No ideas, Manuela explained to the participants that it the time between infections and the time when an individual start showing the signs and symptoms associated with HIV/AIDS. After explaining that Manuela explained the three stages of disease Progression in HIV for example the window period, Incubation and the Honeymoon period clearly , after that explanation, one of the the participants called Florence asked a related question to what Manuela explained, “ why do kids born of parents who are HIV positive come out negative, then Manuela threw back the question to the participants and asked them that who can explain that to Florence so that she can understand since she was not around on that day when taught about that. One of the participant called Ivan, explained very well to the fellow participants exactly what Manuela and Lorna explained that day, when Ivan was giving an answer to the question asked by Florence, he said that if a mother gives birth in the hospital, maybe during pregnancy she didn’t have any accident, that child will come out negative etc. Manuela was so pleased and she told the participants that she has come to know that they are not wasting time to teach participants in ikumbya, but they are planting a seed which will germinate in feature. Then another woman also explained saying that the reason why those children are born negative is because the spam has no HIV/ AIDS. It’s clean, and it was created for reproductive purpose only. After that explanation, Manuela encouraged the participants to always pair attention so they can understand what they are teaching.
