Harriet went to Kalalu village to guide participants to choose leaders who will coordinate the healthy and safe kitchens program. The lesson begun with discussing qualities of a good leader to guide the participants as they chose those leaders. The participants mentioned the following qualities, exemplary, time manager, respectful , neutral among others.
Kibo staff asked the participants to chose their own leaders based on the identified qualities. At first some women were shy to take leadership and Harriet encouraged them to step up and take leadership positions because the program directly benefit them. At the end of the day a committee of 11 people was selected whereby the majority were women with only two men.
The selected leaders thanked kibo for guiding them through the exercise, the community for having entrusted them with leadership positions and asked them to be cooperative for the program to be successful.
