Maria visited Bukudumira village upper section to teach about personal hygiene, oral care, menstral hygiene and skin infection. Members together with Maria discussed the definition of personal hygiene, how to care for their teeth, ways of tracking menstrual cycle, the different types of skin infection, their signs and symptoms, how to prevent and treat skin infections. During an interactive discussion, Ben shred how he keep his body clean; trim off the finger nails, wash the clothes and bath with soap, brush you teeth every day etc. Maria added and said that an individual should bath at least two times a day, wash all the clothes with soap and iron them, keep the environment clean. She encouraged members to brush two times; morning before eating anything and even before going to bed. Maria asked members to share with her what they use during their menstruation period and Nankwanga said some use disposable sanitary pads, reusable pads, and soft towels. The health educator advised members to wash their pants, put them under sunshine or iron them if possible to avoid getting infection. The challenges that women face during their periods were shared; lack of materials like sanitary pads, soap among others. Men were encouraged to support their wives, girls during their period like buying for them the necessities needed. Maria demonstrated the better way of brushing, discussed the different things used while brushing and Mr Sam mentioned a variety of things used; charcoal, salt, ash, etc. Maria encouraged members to use the locally available things to clean their teeth and if can afford the disposable sanitary pads the better. The VHT thanked the health educator for the services she render to this village, he encouraged her to keep the love. The meeting ended with a word of prayer from Mzee musubo.
