Learning Objectives
To review the previous lessons so that participants can understand well.
Notes
Purpose of the visit to Kagulu village, to review all the previous lessons under HIV/ AIDS then introduce another topic, Communication Skills. This exercise will enable Manuela to understand if the participants understood the previous lesson so that she can go ahead with another Topic. This time Manuela reached the village and found when participants had already gathered waiting for her, she greeted them and asked a volunteer to pray, after that, Manuela asked the participants to review the previous lessons, one of the participants by the names Moses stood up and reviewed about How HIV is transmitted and prevented he explained it well and would ask the fellow participants questions about the lessons and they would answer, after reviewing the lessons, Moses encouraged the fellow participants to go and test for HIV other than waiting when it’s too late, mr Moses said that after learning about HIV / AIDS lessons him and his wife Rosemary got courage and went to the health center and they did and HIV test, fortunately they were negative, they were counseled and guided to be faithful to each other by the counselor. Moses said at first he used to fear the ward testing for HIV but after attending Life Skills lessons about HIV/ AIDS he got courage and did the test. After that, another participant this time it was a woman, called Silvia, she said that she really understood the lesson on Mother to child transmission under Women and HIV. She explained all the mode of transmission to the fellow participants, she encouraged the fellow mothers always to give birth in the hospital because according to the lessons she learnt, that it’s the mothers that are vulnerable and have higher risk of catching the virus and also passing it to their children. “Silvia said that before this lesson she used to give birth at home, but she is pregnant and she said that she has already started going for antenatal and she plans-to give birth in the hospital to avoid risk of infecting her child” Silvia told Manuela that, she will continue advising other women to give birth in the hospital. During this exercise, this woman would ask her fellow participants questions and they would answer which was good. After that, other participants also managed to share their views and Manuela told them that now she is free to introduce another topic basing on what she has seen that participants really understood the lessons, Manuela introduced Communication Skills and explained all lessons under this topic and it’s importance of teaching it. Manuela gave the the participants an assignment about the barriers of Communication and the importance of communication in life.

2022-04-28 - Purpose: On that day, Manuela will teach about communication skills focusing on the importance of communication, means of communication and importance of communication.

Yes, most of the participants were able to share their ideas about the previous lessons taught on HIV/ AIDS.
