Notes
Harriet and Tape were in Mpumiro village to continue guiding participants how to build stoves and this was intended to ensure that the community learns how to build stoves. They found a few participants gathered ready with the material for building stoves. They realized that some participants who had earlier got stoves had not turned up for the meeting . This forced Kibo staff to pause the lesson until every one came to the meeting or else to dismantle the stoves for those dodging participants. They later apologized for the mistake to the rest of the members and were warned not to repeat it. Kibo staff identified a group of women whom they identified that they always sat back during the lesson and were tasked to mix the dirt and grass to the required ratio. It was so disappointing that these women failed instead of mixing dirt and grass at a ratio of 2:1, they wanted to mix it at a ratio of 4:1 which would produce a poor concrete thus a poor stove.Kibo staff challenged them that the reason why they failed they always passively participated or some times dodged lessons. Kibo staff then corrected their mistakes mixed the dirt, asked the to stamp the dirt , guided the community to build a stove which was successfully built though through many struggles. After the lesson the parish chief thanked Kibo for the lessons and asked the community to be active in all the lessons. She also asked the women to talk to their husbands also to participate because the number of men seemed to be slow. He also asked the healthy and safe kitchen committee to always register those stubborn participants and forward them to her so that she can deal with them because they seem to be failing the success of the program. She also promised to make surprise visits to the village to track progress. The community thanked Kibo for the lessons being patient with them despite the mistakes they have always made. They also thanked the government officials for the visit which was so encouraging to them. They promised to change for better.
