Maria visited Bukudumira village upper section to teach about skin infections and gastrointestinal worms. The meeting started by identifying the various types of skin infection, signs, how to prevent and treat skin diseases. Swaibu mentioned some of the types of skin infection Ring worm, arthritis foot, etc. The staff added and shared the causes of skin infections namely; Bacterial, Viral,Fungal among others giving details on every type. The signs and symptoms were discussed; itching of the skin, bumps on the skin, etc members discussed. Maria advised members to be careful when any family members get any sign of skin infection, don’t share clothes, bed sheets with any person who has any sick diseases among others. She said that the sick person should be taken to hospital as soon as possible for proper management. Furthermore members together with the staff discussed how worms enter our bodies, prevention, signs and treatment. Aidah gave several types of worms, tape worm, hook worm, etc. Swollen abdomen, loss of appetite mostly in children, lack of blood (anemia) etc were some of the signs discussed. Maria discussed the different ways through which one can get worms. Eating food which is half cooked like pork, beef, etc eating with dirty hand, eating soil among others. She encouraged everyone to cook food well and also improve on their hygiene. She reminded members to take their children to hospital for deworming after every six months. Members were encouraged to Teach children how to wash hand before eating anything to avoid eating and getting worms. The chairperson gave a closing prayer.
