Maria visited Nawandyo A, upper section to teach about Immunization, breastfeeding,and complementary feeding. The discussion started by defining immunization, it’s benefits,share the challenges to mothers,babies and discuss the solutions, explain what is given, at what age and where the vaccines is administered. Members gave several definitions but Nabirye said that it is the polio given to children. The health educator then gave a clear definition saying,; is the process of boasting an individual with vaccines to prevent diseases. Nakayima said babies are immunized immediately after birth on the arm and in the mouth. Maria then explained what is given to children up to five years giving details of the duration between every vaccination. The benefits and challenges were discussed with Maria and the members, Maria encouraged members to take their children for immunization for the vaccines are free and safe. She also informed members that immunization is not done to only children but even adults giving an example of Tetanus, Covid-19 among others Maria explained the immunization card,giving a detailed explanation on what is given,how and where. During an interactive discussion, the health educator asked members how long they breastfeed their children. Florence an active member said babies are given breast milk immediately after birth. The first milk is very important to the growth and development of the babies brain Maria said. She encouraged members mostly the mothers to breastfeed their babies at least two years. Maria and together with the members shared the benefits of breastfeeding and the challenges. Nakandha asked the health educator what to do when a mother conceives before the baby turns two years, should the mother stop breastfeeding the baby. Maria encouraged mothers to keep breastfeeding the baby until the pregnancy turns at least seven months, give additional foods, fruits,and water. The health educator advised members to start giving additional food to babies, starting at the age of 6 months. She gave members different types of foods to start with; Porridge, milk, fruits like bananas, mango,etc. Paul closed with a word of prayer.
