Notes
Suzan went to the village to follow up on smearing of the facilities and the construction of the firewood storages. This time she found some group leaders who walked along with her at the upper section of the village because the chairperson reported that members from that area were stubborn and reluctant to improve on their facilities. They visited different homes and Suzan observed that some members had improved on their structures such as smearing their houses, constructing good dish racks and firewood storages. One of the active participants Mbeiza was found cooking on her well maintained fuel efficient stove in her kitchen but Suzan observed that fire wasn’t reaching the second part of the stove. She went into the kitchen and found ash filled in the middle section of the stove which blocked the fire from entering the second part. Suzan began taking out the ash while explaining to mbeiza the reason why she wasn’t able to cook on the second part. She requested the participants who had started cooking on their stoves to always first clean their stoves before they begin cooking on them. Other members had only smeared the outside parts of their buildings most especially the kitchens, shower areas and latrines while the kitchens had poor constructed firewood storages with no firewood stored. She encouraged the participants to see that they improved on all their facilities and construct stronger firewood stands which can hold up enough firewood for a longer period. The community was grateful for the advise given and promised to do so as soon as possible.
