Learning Objectives
To educate the participants about what is Communication Skills and the importance of communication in life.
Notes
Purpose of the visit, Manuela went to Kagulu village to teach about Communication Skills, types and means of communication and also the importance of communication skills, this lesson is aimed at educating participants to understand the value of communication to their children and the entire community members and families. Manuela reached the village found 30, members seated, she greeted them and asked for one volunteer to pray, after that Manuela requested for one volunteer to review the previous lesson, that was done by good numbers of participants, they were able to share their ideas about the previous lessons. After that, Manuela introduced the lesson of the day, she started by asking the participants questions, what is Communication Skills, one of the participants said it means talking to one another, another one said it means listening to radio or talking on phone. Manuela asked them again what are the importance of communication, they were smart, they said it can lead to development in homes, community, that it leads to peace and love, it leads to mutual understanding etc. Manuela asked them questions, about what causes communication barriers, they stated answers like, noise, not listening, not pairing attention to the teacher, giving wrong information etc,. After that brain storming, Manuela explained well what Communication Skills is, she even explaining about the communication barriers and she encouraged participants to always communicate to one another for example she advised the participants to get time and communicate to children, wife and husbands to promote mutual understanding that can lead to love among them. While Manuela was encouraging participants to speak to their children and loved ones , one woman called Mastula said that, in their culture, women are not supposed to talk or decide in case of any gatherings like family meetings etc. Manuela advised the women around to try and asked their husbands to allow them to also talk or share their ideas because they also have good ideas that can bring development in their homes and the entire community. Manuela also encouraged the men around to give their women chance to communicate and make decisions. As she was encouraging the men to do that, one man called Patrick said basing on the lesson learnt, he will start calling for table meetings in his home including his wife Silvia, even other men said also them they will do that to promote communication in their homes. Manuela evaluated the lessons taught and gave the participants an assignment about the importance of Avoiding behavior and disadvantages of Attacking behavior in communication skills.

2022-05-11 - Purpose: On that day, Manuela is planning to teach about Communication behavior, Attack and Avoiding behavior.
Program Success
Yes, one of the participant gave a testimony about the previous topic, lesson about HIV/ AIDS, this man is called Patrick, he said that, he used to fear to come close to his brother who is HIV positive in fear of being infected, but after learning and understanding how HIV is transmitted and prevented, now he has no problems, he is free to talk to his brother and even eating and staying near him.
