Maria visited Nawampiti village lower section to teach about communicable diseases, upper respiratory tract infection, and HIV& AIDS. The meeting started by discussing the signs and symptoms of HIV/AIDS, how it can be transmitted, signs and symptoms, prevention and treatment. Sylvia said that men who get more than one wive are the ones who spread HIV, members gave several ways through which HIV/ AIDS is transmitted, the health educator supplemented and said that sharing sharp instrument with an infected person, having unprotected sex with an infected person etc. The VHT mr Isabirye gave members advise to most especially the marrieds to stick on one partner or else use condom when having sex with another partner. Maria encouraged youths to abstain until they are married. Maria together with the members shared the signs and symptoms of HIV/AIDS. The health educator advised everyone to go to hospital and test before making a conclusion on just the signs and symptoms. She asked members to start the treatment as soon as possible if they test HIV positive, avoid having many sex partners as these may worsen the situation. Furthermore members together with the health educator discussed communicable diseases, giving example , prevention and treatment. Maria defined communicable disease as infections that can be spread from either a person or animal. Alice gave examples mentioning them Influenza, cough, AIDS, among other. The health educator told the members to seek for medical attention as soon as they see any sign. The health Educator advised members that incase of possession or ownership of an animal/ pets like dogs, they need to vaccinate them and ensure they are in good health and incase of any animal bite, that person should go to hospital for vaccination and treatment. Members discussed the upper respiratory tract infection, how it is caused, signs and symptoms , prevention and treatment. Community members learned the importance of wearing a face mask as it helps not only on Covid-19 but even other infections that can enter through the throat, nose, and mouth.r
