Notes
Suzan went to the village to follow up on the smearing progress especially for those who had not received the fuel efficient stoves. When she reached the village, she found some of the group leaders at the meeting place whom she had informed about the visit and activity that day. After exchanging greetings, they agreed to walk at the lower section of the village because many of the members there had not yet received the new stoves. On their way, the group chairperson said the reason why some members were reluctant was because it was a rainy season and feared the rains to wash off the smeared dirt and prefer smearing their buildings during dry seasons. Suzan observed that most members were only smearing their kitchens because they were excited to receive the fuel efficient stoves while they left out other houses. Suzan encouraged and reminded them to make sure that they smeared all their houses including the shower areas, latrines and main house so that everything looked uniform and healthy to live around. Some kitchens also needed to be improved by constructing good roofs which can not let the rains pass through when it begins raining. She requested the men she met at home to assist their wives in repairing some home facilities since they were always piled with a lot of house chores. The community members thanked Suzan for the advice given and promised to do so as soon as possible before receiving the fuel efficient stoves and they wished each other a happy stay.
