Notes
Suzan went to the village to follow up on the smearing of the facilities and chopping of the grass. This was because the community was preparing for the stove building lessons. She met the group leaders and some other members at the meeting place around the primary school who welcomed her to the village. Together they first discussed about the activities going on and the chairperson informed Suzan how the members were busy smearing their buildings and chopping the grass together. They got up and began walking around the village while visiting different homes and Suzan observed that some participants were improving on their facilities such as smearing their homes and constructed new dish racks while others had not kitchens and were cooking outside under a small shade. One of the men Ali informed Suzan how he was preparing to construct a good kitchen for his wife because he wished his wife to cook on a fuel efficient stove after attending the previous lessons. Some kitchens were very poor threatening to collapse anytime because all the walls were falling off yet the women were cooking inside them. Kibo staff encouraged all the participants to see that they improved on all their facilities before the stove building lessons begin. She also found some women carrying heaps of grass intended for the stove building lessons while taking it to their homes. Suzan requested the members to always choose one day where by they can come together and chop the grass as a team to quicken up the work because one of the main program goals was promote teamwork among the participants. The community members was excited about the stove building lessons and promised to keep improving on their structures because anyone with poor facilities would not receive a stove. Also she requested the leaders to keep following up on the improvements of the facilities whenever they found free time.
