Notes
Diana went to Bulyowa A to continue with the chicken coop demonstration(building). Diana got when most of the members were in the gardens since there was a heavy downpour the previous night. Mr Mpata whom Diana got at the meeting place said that most members are planting sweet potatoes which takes the whole day in the garden. Diana decided to move around some homes to mobilize the community members. By God’s grace some managed to come but were all apologetic and thankful at the same for the love community empowerment program has shown to them. Mpata opened with a word of prayer and later invited Wilbur the chairperson Kibo to greet the community and welcome the Kibo staff. Wilbur thanked everyone for attending the lesson and told them to put everything that is taught to them into practice. He later welcomed Diana to take them through the lesson of the day. Diana thanked everyone for attending and responding to the community empowerment lessons. Diana said that she knows planting sweet potatoes is not easy, it needs dedication and commitment. This involves digging up small heaps of soil then fixing potatoe leaves inside the heaps which is not an easy task. She told them before she continues with the chicken coop demonstration, she wanted to first show them the chicken feed samples she had carried for them. Diana showed them as most of the members asked questions on how some of the feeds can be got. This question was asked by David. Diana responded that it can be got from the poultry shops and others can be got from the markets. Diana told them that they need to dedicate themselves in poultry farming too. The same energy they use for the gardens, they should use it too for poultry rearing. Beatrice said it is true. “If we the community members want to benefit from chicken rearing we need to dedicate ourselves to this type of farming” said Beatrice. Diana thanked her for the good advice. Diana then went ahead to invite some members to participate with her in building the chicken coop. The whole process was interesting as everyone watched to the end. Diana told them in order to make their chicken coop strong, they should use nails instead of using banana fibres for fitting the sticks. The community agreed to do so. Diana also asked them to choose a home where the chicken coop will be built. They told Diana that by Friday they will have chosen a home. Diana thanked everyone for their time and commitment to the community empowerment lessons. She told them that she will continue from there in the next visit. James one of the members closed with a word of prayer and thanked community empowerment for the well selected lessons that suit their community of Bulyowa. He went a head to say that poverty will just be a choice to whoever wants it. Diana went to the neighboring home to check on Gontia who had just returned from the Budaka hospital were he was admitted for surgery. The surgery was intense but successful. He was happy to see Diana and thanked her for loving their community. His family was happy too. Diana encouraged him to take his medication and maintain hygiene. She prayed with the family and left.
