Maria visited Bukudumira village the lower section to teach about Uganda’s major infectious diseases, communicable diseases mainly Urinary tract infection and STDs. Looking at the examples, signs and symptoms, mode of spread, prevention and treatment. Maria defined communicable diseases as diseases that are transmitted from one person to another or animal through different ways like contact with blood, body fluids, air or even a bit of animal or insect. Members together with Maria discussed the examples of communicable diseases; chicken pox, HIV, mumps, rabies, syphilis among others. Maria and the community members shared the signs and symptoms of the different examples of (UTI) urinary tract infection in detail, pain during sexual inter course, pain in the bladder, cloudy urine, vaginal irritation, vaginal discharge etc. Signs and symptoms of HIV/ AIDS were discussed and Maria gave details on the signs and symptoms, mode of spread, how to prevent and in case anyone tests HIV Positive, she encouraged them to start on the life time treatment which is even free of charge. Maria encouraged community members to improve on their personal hygiene, avoid self medication, go to hospital as soon as you see the any of the signs mentioned above. Community members who have animals like pets, dogs among others were advised to vaccinate them so that they are not harmful to people in the community/ family. The chairperson gave his remarks, thanking members for their continuous coming and encouraging them to come with a friend in the next meeting.
