- Village Notes
- David and Alex went to nawampiti to carry out the second evaluation . They worked in about 68 homes ,as they were working assessing the hygiene status of the many homes. They realised that the major challenge which was faced was that their shower areas and toilets were affected by the heavy rains hence collapsing. Therefore as the Kibo staff were moving home to home, they kept on encouraging the owners of those affected homes to always use cement on the last bottom two courses of their shower areas and toilets. Also they were advised to roof their toilets to prevent the water from weakening the walls and floors of their facilities. The owners of the homes appreciated Kibo for the good advice. Therefore the sanitation committee members requested Kibo staff to teach it out to all the residents in the next coming general village meeting .
In addition to the above, David and Steven found when the village in nawampiti had finished collecting their borehole contributions as requested by Kibo. They had the full amount of 200000 shillings but the challenge was with those members in nawampiti b who were left with 70000 shillings to pay up as the amount they were supposed to contribute. The treasurer promised Kibo that they will also get the remaining balance in two weeks time.Generally, the hygiene and sanitation of the entire village was not meeting the required set standards because of the many toilets and showers which collapsed due to the heavy rains.
