Notes
Harriet, Jeska and Elliot went to Kalalu village to teach stove building. This was the first stove to be built in this village. The community had identified a pregnant woman ( Namuwumbya Florence)to be the one to get a demonstration stove. They chose her because she is pregnant thus find it hard to look for firewood so they prioritized her basing on her healthy conditions. Kibo staff together with the community collected the termite dirt from the anti hill, Kibo staff mixed the dirt and grass at a ratio of 2:1 , taught them how to measure the banana stems that will be used to create different holes in the stove. Kibo staff stamped the dirt and community joined until the dirt got ready for stove building. Kibo staff built the stove as they explained the whole process to the community. The community was very active and asked questions which was so encouraging. When the stove was complete the owner of the stove ms. Florence Namuwumbya wanted to know how long the banana stems will stay in the stove and how they will get out. Kibo staff told her that they will remain in the stove for a period between 1 to 2 weeks and Kibo staff will come back to the village and teach them how to remove banana stems.
