Notes
Abraham , chris and Kevin (Kibo visitor) visited this village and while there, the community members were given the opportunity to talk about how to be a successful goat keeper, Mrs Namaganda Mwajib one of the community members who have benefited from keeping goats was the first to give her success story , she said goat is a very important livestock for small marginal and landless rural communities as a source of their subsidiary income. Due to their ability to survive and produce under extreme climatic and manage mental conditions , goat assures income to rural households with almost zero input as long as maximum care is considered. Mrs Mwajib informed the community that five years back she was rearing only one female local goat, she was motivated to add a second goat and now she has 12 goats on her small scale farm where she is able to get extra income. She is expecting the number of goats to increase to 17 by the end of this year, she already earned 180,000 by selling the offsprings and manure (goat droppings) to her neighbors. She added on to say that it was easy to rear goats in comparison to other livestock . She is happy that she is going to get a goat from Kibo increase on her earnings at almost zero input cost. Kevin who is among the Kibo visitors encouraged the community members to work hard and be a blessing to the rest of the communities, he encouraged the parents to take care of their children as well, the community later requested Mr Kevin to plant the mahogany tree provided by the community members, they said this was a gesture to show that the community is conserving the environment. Chris will go back on Wednesday 18/05/2022 to discuss the goats distribution process with the community.
