Notes
Lorna and Keith arrived the village early and found that most of the people were still in the garden. We were later joined by Wilber and Wakiso who walked with us around some homes in the village and we were able to see stoves, the borehole, goats and some trees. After walking in these homes we came back to the meeting place and while at the meeting, Wakiso welcomed Everyone to the meeting and he gave chance to 4 people to speak about how they have benefited from the Program. One lady mentioned that Kibo helped them improve their sanitation and hygiene, Mwase mentioned that because of Kibothey do not draw water from the swamps, anothe4 mentioned because if Kibo their relationships have been improved , they know how to talk to their children, spouses. As the reports were going on, it threatened to rain but the community members said it wouldn’t rain however, it started pouring and we had to ran to the church building where we heard our lessons. We reviewed the previous lesson and then built on from where we stopped. We continued to look at the causes of tape among which we saw Alcohol, lust, unemployment, Seeking employment opportunities, lust, proof of manhood among others. We then looked at the consequences of Rape and Lorna asked the community members to give her some of the consequences and they mentioned ; imprisonment where Isa said that when one is imprisoned the family suffers and the wife may have to sell off their possessions to grant the person bond. Nabirye mentioned that she can never sell anything to take out the man who in his right man went and raped someone. Death which was explained in two ways ;The culprit may use a lot of force and end up killing the person. The husband to the one who was raped or parent of the one who was raped may hack this person to death by taking the law into their hands. It may lead to pregnancy, leads to diseases like HIV/Aids and other related STDs, fear , shame, mental illness among others. We looked at the different signs Behavioral , emotional and Physical signs to show that one has been raped. Under Behavioral we have; children dressing inappropriately, know a lot about sex, regressive behaviors like thumb sucking, wetting the bed, low self esteem, ,isolation among others. Under emotion we looked at; fear , isolation, crying by themselves, blaming themselves, Act Aggressively, among others . Examples under physical were; change in walking style, pain in abdomen, , bleeding, UTIs, among others. Lorna left them with homework of how does one know that someone is hurting child. Lorna then asked Kyle to share anything to the community members. Keith appreciated the community for being very engaging and one loves it. Challenges The rain took most of our time since it was too heavy that we could barely listen to each other. We waited for the rain to stop before we could start teaching.
