Notes
Diana went to Igerera B, to introduce the lesson of Discipline in children. Diana got when the community members had not yet arrived. She decided to move around the near by homes and to mobilize the community members. The turn up was not good as expected, because most members were weeding their ground nuts. Diana went back to wait for the members, but only a few came and they were already late. The chairman opened with a word of prayer. He told the community members who were around to get serious, he told them to go to their gardens early enough so that they can save time for Kibo programs. He went a head to thank everyone who attended and reminded them to encourage their friends and neighbors to attend the lessons that concern their families. Diana decided to teach those who were around. Because it was already late. She went straight to the the lesson of the day, which was discipline in children. She asked them what they understand by discipline in children. Charles said that it is imparting knowledge into the children. Diana thanked him for the brilliant answer. She asked if there is any one who has a different answer, Sarah, said that it is the beating of children and making them better. Diana responded immediately, telling them that beating the children is not the solution, but it is the parents to train up their children. A child is handled in the way he is taught. Discipline is not just about giving kids consequences, instead it ensures children are gaining the skills they need to become responsible adults. Diana added on that discipline helps the children to manage anxiety and make good choices. Diana continued explaining to the community the importance of disciplining the children and how to impart discipline. The discussion went on well as the community members participated actively. Diana told the community members that she will end there because of time. She told them that she will continue with the lesson of Discipline in the next visit. The chairman thanked Diana for teaching them and requested Kibo not to give up on them. He promised there will be an increase in number in the next visit.
