Notes
Enock and a team of VHTs walked around to check on the progress of latrine constructions, dish racks, shower areas, kitchen areas, clean compounds, rubbish pits. Also to continue teaching about the use of ash in latrines, hand washing facilities, importance of constructing standard facilities since it’s a rainy season and the rain may destroy some facilities. Therefore to avoid repeating the same work over again, Enock and the group encouraged them to construct durable facilities. The community members have embraced the program and are working hard to accomplish the construction of all the facilities except a few homes which have been so slow to adopt the change. Before teaching the importance of facilities, they taught them the dangers and diseases which result due to poor sanitation and open defecation. This village has a big population and if some people are still doing open defecation, this is a rainy season and this may accelerate the spread of cholera, diarrhoea, dysentery, bilharzia which may even kill the residents. Enock and the team encouraged the community residents to also tell their neighbours to construct and dig pit latrines. There is a good number of standard latrines constructed in the trading centre. After people hearing about the many dangers that may result, they told the VHTs to give them pick Axes to start right away digging pits for their families. This village also has a hard bed rock which is also a big barrier for many residents hence taking a longtime while trying to penetrate to the required depth of latrine. Although many people are managing to construct and dig latrines, some people in the trading centre are renting, which makes it hard to construct dish racks because they say they will be moving away to their homes. They have resorted to dish racks which are movable.

Village Notes
Enock visited the lower section which for about 10 and more years, this section only had one latrine which was functional and well constructed. The rest of the homes used the bushes around. There are about 18 homes in this area. The good news is they have improved and at the moment there are 13 new latrines, the rest are still digging pits .
