Notes
Alex had a meeting with the community members to guide them on the standards of the fence to be built. The community has already cut the poles to be used but some of the poles could not meet the standard to be used. Alex advised them to use bigger poles and directed them the distance from one pit to another of 2ft apart and from the slab. Also the soak pit should meet the standards and be filled with stones to soak up the water that runs off. Also the community needs to work on the compound, plant grass around the borehole and make sure the compound is extremely clean. While in the meeting, the community members were told to have a collective responsibility towards their borehole. The responsibility should not be left for only the water committee. Some new members were added on the committee. A new mobilizer was selected and two new borehole caretakers, a man and a woman. The committee is now comprised of 8 members, four men and four women. The community in the next meeting will enact the by laws to be used to guide all the community members to take good care of their borehole. Alex also had to go through the water user committee roles and responsibilities for all to know their roles to play. He talked and emphasized on the borehole ownership and not to allow any one open up the borehole since some people can take away the good borehole parts and put in fake ones. He told them to always notify Kibo whenever there is a problem with this borehole.
