Enock had plans to meet the sub-county health inspector of this community. They met and then proceeded to the village to check on the progress of latrine construction, dish racks, shower areas, kitchen areas, hand washing facilities, rubbish pits dug, clean compounds, uses of ash in the latrine and emphasising the standard of all the facilities. There are some serious facilities constructed in the trading centre, say bricks, cement and sand was used to construct the facilities, we also saw some good dish racks which are under use, clean compounds, and proper use of rubbish pits. We also saw many flies in some latrines where we got a chance to make a demonstration of use of ash in the latrines to chase flies, reduce the bad smell and maintain proper sanitation in the latrine. Then we continued walking around other homes towards the swamp where we also came across a young couple which for about 8 years they never had a latrine and shower. As we reached their home, they welcomed us excited to show us some of the new facilities in their home. Enock taught them the use of a soak pit behind the the shower area which is, to drain the water from the shower and keeping it dry not smelling. On top of that we emphasised on proper maintenance of the facilities and sustainability. Many people have bought into the importance of sanitation and hygiene in their homes and the values. This is because the people who have completed the facilities have noticed that, their are few cases of diseases spread since they all have the facilities. Residents are being encouraged to improve on the sanitation levels of the community.
