Notes
Harriet, Jeska, Tape, together with the three internees from U.S.A found when the community is summarizing to stamp the dirt for one of the two stoves that they had planned to build that day. The group was divided into two where by Jeska stayed at the home where the dirt had already been stamped and worked with some people to build a stove there. Also another group went to another home for Nabirye Christine together with Harriet, Tape and the visitors. They mixed the dirt and grass at the ratio of 1:2 ,stamped it and built the stove. Kibo staff built the stoves as they explained the whole process to the community. At the end of the building process they had a meeting where Kibo staff asked them to ask any thing they did not understand during the process of building stoves. The group had a question on where the hole for venting out smoke should be put. Harriet told them that the hole should be through the wall on the side where the small pot sits. She added that if the hole is put in the wrong side, smoke will remain in the kitchen and it will also affect the small pot from cooking. At the end of the meeting Kibo staff tasked the group to try to build a stove on their own before the next meeting so that they will look at it and correct mistakes in case of any. most women were hesitant but one of the active men called Galevu Sam encouraged them to do it. He also told them that for him he feels that he knows what to do and will help them to do better.
