Notes
Enock with Amelia and Hannah the students from Harding university teamed up to visit this village to check on the progress of latrine construction, dish racks, shower areas, kitchen areas, digging new rubbish pits and emphasising/ sensitising the importance and standardisation for all the facilities. As we reached, we walked around home to home to see the newly constructed facilities, continue teaching on the sizes of all the facilities, as well as reminding the residents on the problems and diseases which may result due to poor sanitation. There are already 18 new latrine holes (pits) which are under construction that we saw during this visit. There are 4 new latrines constructed, three dish racks, three new rubbish pits. As we walked around, we also met some people busy digging their pit latrines. The students from Harding University also encouraged the community residents to construct good facilities and take the lessons seriously to improve on the sanitation and hygiene of the village. The chairman and VHTs and the sanitation committee also worked with us to check on the latrine construction as well as learning how we teach the residents and discuss all the lessons so that they can take the lead to also monitor and evaluate the fellow residents to construct good standard structures and to see that they are using them effectively. The local leaders are also helping in managing the pick axes and shovels so that all residents can be able to access them, such that someone will not stay with the pick Axe for long. The residents are so busy working to improve on their sanitation and hygiene.
