Notes
David and Steven were in nawandyo B to follow up on the two people waiswa Paul and lbra who were busy working to complete constructing on their new pits. The above mentioned two people have been very stubborn and not easy to get them to work on their facilities. During the previous visit waiswa Paul had dug up to about 10 feet and lbra had completed a 15 feet pit and was starting to construct a structure on it. Therefore when David,mr kige,Steven and the V h t visited the two people ,they found some good progress because ,Ibra was a half way to finish constructing a-structure around his pit. However Waiswa was still at 16 feet to complete the twenty feet pit which was required of him by the committee members and the Kibo staff.David ,kige and the v h t gave him four days to complete with the digging of his pit and five days of waiswa to complete his new pit latrine. Kibo staff and the committee members spent time encouraging them to love their homes by working hard to improve on their sanitation standards. They did so because presently the two people ,waiswa and lbra understood than before the importance of hygiene and sanitation improvements. After that they moved in about twelve homes which were not smeared ,and kept on encouraging the owners to start maintaining and improving on their houses and kitchens by smearing.
In addition to the above David and Steven also crossed to nawandyo A for a meeting with the water committee at the borehole which needs to be repaired. The main things they discussed about were, how they would get their borehole account balance, as they said they had 120000 shillings out of the 200000 they were supposed to raise. The committee said that they will be moving in the entire village home to home twice a week during this harvesting time when the members have some money in order to raise the remaining balance.David reminded them of some homes which were not meeting the standard to revive on their hygiene status by maintaining and improving on their facilities.
In general nawandyo A the greater number of the residents have got all the necessary sanitation facilities in place except one facility which David noted about as their biggest challenge which was the hand washing facility. They left the village planning to have a meeting with the members of B about how they will go about their borehole contributions.
