- Notes
- Harriet found when the participants had already gathered. She theoretically taught them the materials required for building stoves. These included banana stems, grass, termite dirt, water, two old source pans, a panga, a shovel as well as water.
She asked the participants whether those materials can be found in their village. 90% of the participants assured Harriet that all the materials can be found in their village. Harriet asked the participants to walk and search for grass for her to prove that they have understood the nature of grass she wants as well as teach them how to cut it.
Unfortunately only one participant showed up with the right type of grass. This acted as an example to show to the participants the type of grass that is needed. And the group agreed that it is freely and easily found in their community.
Harriet later demonstrated to them how to cut grass and asked every participant to try it out . This is because they are expected to learn so that they are able to cut grass for building stoves.
Harriet asked the group to identify the possible participants who will get the first demonstration stoves.
This was a very challenging moment whereby every one was choosing him or herself to get the first demonstration stove. Harriet asked them to vote others instead of voting them selves.
The group later decided to chose two people and one of them is the one who brought the right type of grass ( Nabirye)as the lucky winner.
The second participant was Mukunya margret reason being she has always attended the meeting on time.
Harriet left them with an assignment to cut enough grass that will be needed for building the first two demonstration stoves on 28/ June 2018.
