Notes
Alex B with the community members gathered at the meeting place for the demonstration of digging, spacing and filling the hole for planting the mvule tree. We went to one of the members homes Miss.Nabirye the treasurer for the group. We wanted to do a demonstration from there as one with a small plot and also advise her where she can plant one of the mvule or musizi trees. The members suggested that the plot was small for her to plant any tree since she has more plans to put up more buildings on the same plot. She told them that, she has another land where she can plant the mvule and musizi trees. We left that place when she was contented with information from her fellow members that there was no place for her to dig a hole for demonstration. She promised to dig the holes after learning how to do it and fill them with the compost manure. We proceeded to the home of the chairperson Fiida Nakaziba to dig the hole and fill it with the manure. When we arrived at her home, she just told the group to look for a good site where to do the demonstration. The members managed to decide on an area where they advised her to plant the mvule trees and said that she had to do them in a line. They also find out that the spacing from one to another was good. The members dug the hole as they were watching and it is two feet wide, two feet in length and two feet deep. The members after digging the hole went to collect the manure and we all checked to see if there was no stones, metal or anything that does not rot.We filled the hole with manure to the beam . We decided to mark the the middle point of the hole for identification. It was exciting to the members as they all came together to the home of their chairperson to learn. The members asked if it was needful to protect that place and to be pouring water there to keep it cool. We all agreed that to avoid children from playing there, they need to put hedges for protection, as if they leave it open, they may walk over it and make that place hard before planting in the mvule tree. For the case of Watering, Alex told them that this will be required when trees are planted.r
