- Notes
- Harriet went to sinde to introduce the Healthy and Safe kitchen program to the local leaders who will help her mobilise the village for the lessons.She told them the goals and objectives of the stove program as to empower the community with knowledge and skills on how to build the fuel efficient stoves which will help them to do the following;
Reduce on the amount of firewood used to cook food every day thus reduce the frequency of women going to the forest to look for firewood.
Also this program will help women to have enough time to do other productive things other than spending long hours either in the forests looking for firewood or in the kitchen cooking food.
It will also eliminate the cases of children getting burnt as a result of cooking on open flames that also produce a lot of smoke leading to women having health diseases like for the eyes and chest diseases( tuberculosis).
This program will also encourage men to appreciate their wives on how much work they do for the family thus the men will be attracted to help their wives to raise children as well as cooking food for the family.
The chairperson LC1 seemed to be interested in this program and asked Kibo staff to go back on monday 23 July and teach the entire community because he will have mobilised the entire community.He also said that most men in his village complain about their wives taking long in the forests looking for firewood thinking that they have affairs with other peoples men.
