Village Notes
Now that a new borehole has been installed, this has made the community members in the village of Nawandyo A and B to work together more and to trust Kibo more as drilling a borehole isn’t something easy to do and they for surely call themselves as being lucky and the villages neighboring Nawandyo want to learn from what Nawandyo has done and calling Kibo to come to their communities too.

Notes
The borehole installation and casting was completed last week on Thursday 12/07/2018. Normally it takes 14 days for the new borehole platform to dry. Alex went to check whether the new borehole platform was getting to dry as required. The water user committee had initially been told how to care for the new concrete to enable the platform to dry well . However it still requires to follow up and make sure the right thing is done not to mess up with the new concrete work. On a good note, when Alex arrived, he went straight to check on the borehole and found that it was still covered with banana leaves and a strong orange cover to allow the platform stay moist with the water that was poured. This covering also prevents direct sunlight as this sunlight is not required in the first one week on new concrete as this creates cracks eventually. He told the members of the water committee that were present to continue covering it for the next three to four days and leaving it moist. Alex then told the committee members to start gathering the poles that will be used to build a new fence for the borehole. He showed them the right size of poles that be used to build a strong fence. He told them that they shouldn’t build a fence until when the platform is dry. Alex will go back to guide the community as they build this new fence and continue discussing the community and water user committee borehole roles and responsibilities before the commissioning of the borehole.
