Notes
Tom made a follow up visit to kisiro to check on sanitation and hygiene improvements as well as facility constructions and improvements. When he arrived in the village, he was joined by committee members who suggested to make a,visit to a few specific homes in Isamba before moving to the section called kisiro North. In Isamba, in some of the homes they found residents in the pits digging while in other homes they found that they had increased on the depth of the pits from the previous visit. In one home the resident I’d digging a,circular pit and is about 13ft deep. He said he wants to dig to 20ft while his neighbor has also added onto the depth. In another section of the village they found three brothers that have dug three new pits for there three latrine one each. Tom shared with them about how to construct the floor securing it so that the latrine can last longer. Tom was very thankful that all the three brothers had chosen to each construct their own latrine. Tom also encouraged the women in those homes to smear their shower facilities as the men work on the latrine. As they moved , they were able to see several new latrine finished. In kisiro North, Tom and the committee members wanted to check specifically on a home of the new chairman of the village to see if he had started on a latrine because his was very old and way full. On reaching there, they found a pit being dug and they were encouraged. The committee members said they were going to meet with him and thank him for taking action to dig and construct a new latrine for his home. In the trading center section, they found a new latrine almost Donne while they were able to see three other pits still being dug. Tom encouraged the committee members to continue moving around the village and encouraging them to work towards improving their sanitation and hygiene standards. After Tom left for jinja.
