Notes
Tom made a visit to Kisiro bill to check on sanitation and hygiene improvements as well as check on facility construction and standards. When he arrived in the village, he found when some of the committee members were waiting for him at the meeting place as well as a few chairmen from the other sections of the village. Before starting to move around, Tom first held a small meeting with the chairmen that were present. In the meeting Tom asked them about the progress of the program in there respective sections. Most of them reported that the residents are working but Tom challenged them to always be present whenever he comes so that they can work together as a team. From that meeting, two of the chairmen from the sections decided to move with Tom and the three committee members present as most of them had gone to the mosque. They moved in the section from the primary school towards the trading center. They started in a home of a single mother who has been struggling to get a latrine. They found men who had come to dig for her a new pit. The pit was extremely rocky but Tom and the committee members thanked the men for offering to help her and also thanked her for committing money so that she can have a latrine. After they went to another home where they found when the construction of a new latrine had started. They advised the resident on how to better construct on it so that it’s strong enough to withstand any challenges from heavy rains. His neighbor has also started the construction while another resident in the same section promised to dig a new pit for his latrine. They moved to another home of the chairman of the section which does not have a latrine. It was good to find when he had finished the pit and had already brought logs to put on the pit. In his second home, also they found a new pit therefore he will have a new latrine in both of his homes. He said he was doing it so that other residents can get it from him that it’s good to have latrines. His neighbor has also started on a new pit while in three homes, constructions are going on. In one home, they found a resident and his wife constructing a latrine and they were very happy and appreciated kibo for encouraging them and teaching them about the values of good sanitation and hygiene practices. After moving around the village, Tom and the committee members ended there walk as well as the chairmen. Tom Thanked them for the good work they were doing and headed for jinja.
