Notes
Harriet found when the members had already divided themselves into two groups. Each group at a home where stoves were to be built. Harriet first walked around the homes where they had built the stoves before to see whether they had dried and tell them to start cooking on them. Harriet reached in two homes were the first demonstration stoves were build and found in one home when they had started cooking on the stove. The interesting part of it the woman”Mukunya Margret) was busy building stoves in the group and the husband was cooking beans. He told Harriet that he has been married to his wife for the last 20 years but he has never helped his wife to cook. But because the fuel efficient stove eliminates smoke in the kitchen, uses less firewood which is convenient for him to cook. He also told Harriet that he wanted to surprise his wife by finding beans ready by the time she comes back from building stoves with the group. He thanked Kibo for empowering them with the skills and he proved that the stove uses less firewood because he has tested it by cooking on it. Harriet later joined the group and guided them to build two stoves on their own. They tried but there have not yet mastered how to measure banana stems . They relay on two men and that day they were not around so the group was gambling on that day. Harriet encouraged all of them to get involved in the whole process if they are to be perfect in building stoves.
