Notes
Alex together with the community members discussed through their roles and responsibilities towards their borehole and why each village member and water user has to play a key role to ensure that the borehole is taken good care of and meant to serve it’s purpose and also ensuring its functionality at all times meeting all the standards. Alex told the village that all the roles and responsibilities must be shared by every body in the village since this source serves everyone in the village. The borehole therefore doesn’t have to be cared by only the water user committee that the community selected but rather everyone to have ownership towards this borehole. Alex reminded everyone that the borehole can be locked and taken away by Kibo if the community continues to have a perception that the borehole belongs to Kibo group and they fail to take ownership and care for the borehole. When the community has a sense of ownership, then everyone cares for that borehole and everyone will ensure functionality of the borehole. The turn up for the meeting was not good because many of the people in the village are in the harvesting period for rice. Alex also told the people to make sure they complete the borehole fence. Some of the poles were not pleasing and Alex pulled them out asking to the community to replace them with the required size of the poles. He had to show every one at the borehole how a standard fence will be constructed and a soak pit. Alex will go back for another meeting guiding the community to come up with the bylaws and prepare them more before the borehole commissioning.

3937 Alex together with the village people had discussion again about the right sizes of the poles to make a strong, standard and long lasting fence. This was demonstrated right at the borehole. He also had to show them the right size of the soak pit to be dug
