Notes
Ida went to Kitukiro and introduced the poultry lesson. She asked if there was any one who didn’t know what a chicken was. Every body knows and showed Ida a chicken that was eating aunts. Ida asked the community to tell her what a chicken is, the majority didn’t know but were pointing to chickens that were around. Ida later gave the explanation of a chicken. They all all laughed and said that learning never ends. Since you now know what a chicken is, the next step is to change the way you take care of the chickens. We will start with helping the chickens look for where to lay eggs from. This will reduce the problem of chickens laying in bushes, neighbors homes and on top of kitchens. Look for cotton or old pieces of blankets and make a laying place. Get a pencil and write a date and month on an egg of which it was layed. This will help you identify the old eggs because they are not good for incubation. When the first chicken shows a sign of incubation, boil the oldest egg and the chicken will think that it’s sitting on its eggs. Until the last chicken starts incubation, remove the boiled egg and get the eggs that you kept and pick out the six types that are bad. The six bad eggs are 1. Cracked. 2. Dirty. 3. Pointed. 4. Too big. 5 Too small. 6. Old Next time will start from there.
