- Notes
- Bukhana had a function at the nearby church. The chairman used this opportunity to invite Ida to teach before their activities began. The function was about electing women local leaders. Ida started with revision to see if the community still remembered the previous lesson. Good enough most of them remembered.
She continued with the lesson, after marking the eggs and sorting out the bad ones, give your hens enough eggs as you wish. One should Start preparing for hatching after 21 days and 6hrs. The following are required 2 days before hatching.
1 Drinker,feeder,glucose,charcoal,charcoal stove and a basket.
A drinker is used for putting in clean drinking water for the chics. The water must be clean not dirty. Glucose is given from the first hour to hour three . Glucose also helps wash the intestines of the chics for better digestion and gives strength and heat.
A feeder is used for putting in feeds, the feeds are put three hours after hatching. This container will help save the feeds that would be wasted when scratching. It also keeps the food clean not scattered in the dirt.
A charcoal stove helps at night to keep the chics warm since they are removed from their mother. The stove is put on three stones, such that the chics will not be burned. A stove is only used at night and when it's cold because coldness kills little chickens.
A basket is now a bed for the chics, the mother is no longer going to be with her chics because she needs to start laying again. After two to three days she will have forgotten about her babies and will go and start to look for a rooster. After two weeks she will start laying again.
The next lesson will be feeding. What type of food is given after the three hours of glucose.
