Village Notes
Lorna while moving around in one of the homes found the trees that were delivered by Abraham had not been planted. When she asked why? , she was informed by a Norah in whose home they were that she was not around and had just come back. She was requested by the members to distribute to those present the trees. In another home one of the stoves was not passing out smoke and Lorna also unblocked the vent pipe hence aiding the smoke to pass out.

Notes
Introduction Lorna was in Kivule to teach about the immune system and the relationship between STDs and HIV/AIDS. Overview Lorna reached the meeting place and there was no one there. She decided to move around mobilizing people to come attend the teaching/lesson and while doing this, she was checking on their hygiene and sanitation status as well as on the stoves if they were being used. She found in most people’s homes they had maintained their facilities apart from in one home whose bathing facility had collapsed. Lorna asked whether this lady showers during day or night. The lady laughed and said both times. Lorna encouraged them to construct a better and stronger wall. Lorna moved in about 7 homes before going back to the meeting place. The meeting then started at 2pm and this is because most people were still in their gardens as it had rained the previous day. Lorna introduced the topic of the day the Immune system and the relationship between Sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS. Lorna in the topic of the immune system taught about the role of the white and red blood cells in our body. She told them the red blood cells were responsible for carrying oxygen and carbon dioxide in the body and the white blood cells to fight off diseases. She also told them about the other different blood cells and their function. She also mentioned the T4 helper cell/ CD4 which is most attacked by HIV. She then moved on to the relationship between Sexually Transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS. Lorna talked about Gonorrea, Syphilis, Herpes simplex and Chancroid as some of the STDs. Lorna asked what some of these symptoms were and a few people gave some of the symptoms as Lorna gave them the rest. She also went ahead and said that if these diseases are not treated early enough, they could result to AIDS if someone is HIV positive which will cause early death. However if treated earlier a person can leave a long healthy life. Lorna urged them if they see any of these symptoms, to go and get medication early enough. She also talked about why women were more at risk which was because of biological factors as well as some taboos. She added that some of these STDs if not treated early enough can lead to death, blindness and deformity to the unborn child. Conclusion In conclusion, since time had gone and it had also rained heavily, Lorna left them with questions like. What are they going to do about what they have learnt, how are they going to make sure that this information reaches those that had not attended and why was it important to get treated early?.
