- Notes
- Enock went to this community to check on the progress of latrine construction and other facilities. As he reached, he met the local leaders to team up so that they can walk around this community to continue sensitizing, teaching, encouraging, monitoring and evaluating the progress. We encouraged the residents to construct good standard facilities with bricks, cement and sand if they are able. The people who are not able to use bricks, cement and sand where taught some other designs to construct better facilities. There are some people who have already completed the construction of their hand washing facilities after hand washing triggering many people have embraced the program and washing their hands before eating anything. We saw 4 newly constructed latrines, 7 new rubbish pits, 7 new dish racks and all are in use. We encouraged them to always uses them, teach even their children the benefits of all the facilities. There is a home which we went too and didn’t have a latrine, we met to the husband in that home to talk about his plan. The gentleman asked for only two days so that he can construct his latrine. Some people who have pits that are not yet completed, promised us that they will complete their latrine structures in one week. Enock, reminded the dangers of poor sanitation and open defection. I also continue telling them the diseases caused due to poor sanitation say diarrhea, trachoma, dysentery, diarrhea which cause continuous poverty in family’s due to expenses of medication. The community members are learning the importance of encouraging proper sanitation and hygiene. I guided some residents how to construct good facilities. Generally the sanitation levels in this village they are increasing.
