- To enable the community take good care of their immune system - To know that if STDs are not treated early enough can lead to HIV / AIDS entering the body and getting host. - To enable women know that they are at higher risk of contracting HIV/ AIDS due to their biological nature.
Notes
Introduction Lorna was in this village to teach on the immune system, women and HIV/AIDS and the relationship between sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS. Overview Lorna found waiswa the secretary Kibo group and a few men waiting for her. They then together moved to the meeting place where they sat and waited for more people to come. After about an hour one man requested the lessons to begin. Lorna however asked them to wait as she was seeing no woman around and yet, these lessons are important for both parties. Lorna asked Waiswa to go back and move around and ask the women to come. When the women came, the lesson started. Lorna started by teaching about the immune system and here they looked at the different blood cells and their importance in our bodies. They looked at the red and white blood cells whereby, the red blood cells are responsible for transporting oxygen in the body and carrying out carbondioxide while the white blood cells are responsible for fighting off antigens/ germs/ virus or diseases. Under the white blood cells they looked at several other cells including the CD4 cell referred to as the Captain cell which is most attacked by the HIV virus. Lorna encouraged them to look after their immune system by treating whatever disease the body encounters. Lorna then taught on the relationship between Sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS. Here she taught about the different STDs and their symptoms for example ; gonorrea, syphlis, chancroid, herpes simplex. She also explained that having an STD was the most common way of transmitting HIV. Lorna added by saying that when one has an STD, they need to first ensure that they get treatment for the STDs. If the STDs are not treated early enough, and they overpower the immune system, it can lead to Aids hence early death. Lorna also looked at why women were more at risk of getting HIV/ AIDS and they looked at both biological factors and taboos surrounding sex. Biological factors like; women were created differently that is they are too open and have a softer mucous membrane that’s easily infected. Some of the taboos were ; female genital mutilation, sleeping with a virgin cures AIDs, exchange of sex for money due to poverty, culture where women have no say when it came to sex among others. Conclusion In conclusion, Lorna thanked everyone for coming and asked the men who came around to come with their wives next time.r

4294 This lady was giving the men a scenario of how men are trouble causers in the home.she said a man will expect his wife to do certain things some way and yet he has not told her exactly how he wants it done. He will then go find another woman who he can tell the same thing that he failed to tell his wife, not knowing if this woman is HIV positive or not ending up transmitting the disease to his family. She was telling the men to tell them exactly what they( men) want.
4297 When teaching on the relationship between HIV/AIDS and STDs, On gonorrhea the lady pictured kneeling said that, their husbands are always suffering from this disease and honestly they are tired of treating it. She finished by saying if they are to get the disease let them get it since , they have nothing to do unless the men stop messing around. Lorna encouraged everyone to take care of themselves by being faithful to their partners but incase one encounters STDS, they should not get tired of treating it and should protect their partners too.
