Notes
Alex went to Buluvu with two intentions, first to put on a new head assembly for the old borehole. The village together with Kibo group bought a new head assembly after old one had become very bad to be used. The village contributed 230,000/= and Kibo topped up 150,000sh. Alex had meetings with all the waters users for this old borehole and asked them to have ownership for the borehole and together they came up with bylaws that would guide everyone as they use their borehole. Alex also took a copy of the borehole bylaws that was drafted by the community and the water user committee was very happy that this will be revisited at all times to remind the people about what they agreed to do in order to take good care of their borehole. He conducted a training for the water user committee about why the committee needs to be active and functioning at all times to ensure they guide every member on proper borehole management and ensuring that the community is contributing money for the borehole to meet any future borehole repairs. Alex also visited the new borehole that was drilled by Kibo group to continue monitoring the borehole performance and it’s still working very fine with no complaints from any person in the village. He continued to encourage the community members and the water user committee to keep the borehole bylaws working and to revisit them whenever they have village borehole meetings. Alex will keep in touch with the borehole committee to keep to remind them of their roles and be active.
