Ws Notes
Alex and Steven were in Nawandyo A to carry out a borehole repair. After preparing the community well through selection and training of the water user committee plus teaching the community about their roles responsibilities, the borehole parts that were needed to fix the well were purchased. 10 stainless pipes , 10 rods and a new water tank were bought. Also the community was able to contribute 200,000sh towards this repair and part of this money was used to purchase the nipple adapter and paid 50,000/= to the hand pump mechanic. The community members were very active and participated during the repair process lifting out the pipes that were replaced and also thanked Kibo for encouraging them to take good care of their and learning that they have to be responsible towards their borehole. A new water user committee in place is very active and was reminded again to be very active at all times encouraging all the water users to do what is required. All went well after installing 10 pipes, 10 stainless rods and new water tank. Alex will keep following up on the borehole performance to make sure that everything is working well since sometimes the borehole might change after installing new parts. The water user committee was told to call Kibo staff Alex if anything is going well. The hand pump mechanic will also be informed if anything doesn’t go well and needs to be rectified. The whole community was extremely very happy to Kibo group for helping fix their borehole as it used to dry out during the drought season but now increasing the pipes to 10 is going to help a lot and now the borehole is giving plenty of water that can meet the community demand. This borehole serves about 60 households in total.
