Notes
Abraham met thirty six Bukoma A community members and they went around checking how the members planted their trees. Some members have already put cages but still some few have not. Abraham encouraged those who have not put the cages around their trees to do it because it protects the trees from animals. There is a Mvule tree they planted near the bore hole and it is doing well. The big problem is that many people in this area are growing more sugar cane and they cut all the trees to grow sugar cane and now getting fire wood is a problem. Abraham advised them not to grow sugar cane if they have little land because many have grown sugar cane and they will not have enough food in their homes. Sugar cane takes eighteen months to harvest. He warned them to prepare for food shortages in the are and mostly people with big families to know that there is hard times coming, he told them to plant sugar cane if they have big land so that they can have to grow food crops for their families. The government is also struggling to make sure people grow enough food rather than growing sugar cane for money mostly those who have little land.
