Alex and one health committee member, Mwoda moved in the lower section of the village, in the zones of Kisiro B and Kisiro West LC. They decided to move in these two sections because it’s one section where there are so many challenges of constructing pit latrines because it’s sandy. It recently rained in Kisiro and some homes again lost their pit latrines they had constructed. Recently we realized that digging these pits in a circular form is better than than the rectangular form as these can better resist the rains. This part of the village is very sandy and just one heavy rainfall causes the pits to sink. Together they visited about 27 homes and about 6 new pits were already completed to replace those that were brought down by the rains recently. Many of the village people also are happy about this new way of digging the pits in the circular form and when constructed on with a strong structure, they can withstand heavy rains and not to sink easily. Alex together with the health committee member, Mwoda kept encouraging all the people to work on their facilities. There is a section in Kisiro West where by they have a very big challenge to dig a pit latrine and Alex told them to try this way of digging a pit in a circular way and will see a difference. However this section of the kalangu people needs more emphasis as it needs a lot of encouragement for people to come up with these facilities. About 20 homes are in this section but only about 4 homes have the pits. The village leader in this part of the village was encouraged to step up his efforts to guide his people on what needs to be done. We will continue to encourage all the people that are still missing some facilities to also have them.

Kisiro village being a very big village was recently divided into 8 zones from the original Kisiro east and Kisiro west. Meaning that the whole village now has 8 LC1.
