Tom and Enock made a visit to kalitumba village to deliver the iron sheets that the community had contributed towards. Tom and Enock met the committee members in namutumba town to buy the iron sheets. They bought the iron sheets and loaded them on a truck which delivered them to the village. On reaching the village, they found most of the residents who had contributed for the iron sheets waiting at mr Silive’s home who is the treasurer as well. Before distributing the sheets, Tom first moved to check on a few homes which had there latrines under construction. In one of those homes, they found when they builders were constructing the concrete floor while in another home, the concrete floor had been finished as well as the structure. After moving around they came back to the meeting place. As they were waiting for other residents to arrive, Tom received a call from the district officials who said they wanted to come and visit the village he was working in that day. Finally after about 45mins, the district officials arrived and also requested to move around. There were several sub-county inspectors, the district health inspector, police officer, and other officials from USAID. When they reached in the home where the builders were constructing the concrete floor yet the houses in that home they are mud huts, they were all shocked. They asked the lady from the how about the process they have taken to reach that level. They also asked what had motivated them to construct such a facility more expensive than even the house they live in. The lady talked about Kibo and it’s work in the village about sanitation and hygiene. She also talked about the triggering session which challenged her to take action but also the encouragement from Tom, Enock and other Kibo people. They asked her were she got the money and she said it was from selling her rice harvest. The government officials where very touched and encouraged by the work Kibo is doing in the district. They also visited other homes were they found new latrines and other facilities. Later they went back to the meeting place and they all thanked the community for embracing the sanitation and hygiene program as well as thanked Kibo. They also encouraged the residents who were going to get the iron sheets to use them well and construct better and stronger roofs which Tom later as well emphasized in his speech. After the sheets were distributed to those only who contributed their share. During the meeting, Tom and Enock were very thankful and happy to the few women who constructed latrines and paid for the iron sheet. They were encouraged by there desire to change and improve on there homes.
