- Notes
- Harriet found a few participants waiting at the meeting place. She waited for thirty minutes then other members also came.
The meeting begun with an opening prayer that was led by Balidawa God( the chairperson LC1). He then welcomed Kibo to his village and asked Harriet to begin her teaching.
Harriet told them that the materials they need to build stoves are free in their village and these include termite dirt, grass , water( it doesn’t necessarily need clean water), two old source pans, banana stems( the one where they have harvested banana), a panga for cutting grass and banana stems,a shovel for creating a vent for smoke, a basin for measuring grass and dirt and hoes for digging the dirt from the ant hill.
She asked the group whether those materials are free in their community or they have to buy them.
The community assured Harriet that all those materials are free and available in their community except grass because they are not sure of how it looks like.
Harriet asked the group to walk with her in the village and search for grass to prove that it can be found in their community. They walked together and later own found the grass in the neighboring village though it is scarce the community promised to search for it because they are very much interested in the stoves.
They later came back and Harriet practically taught them how to cut and asked them to continued searching for grass and chop it because they need enough grass before the first demonstration stove is build.
Harriet also asked them to work as a team because building stoves requires team work and Kibo does not work with individuals but works with the entire community.
The community thanked Kibo for the teachings and promised to work hard until every member in the group gets a stove.
