- Notes
- Harriet found when the participants had already gathered and were busy stamping the dirt. This was very encouraging for them to start doing things on their own with out the presence of Kibo to tell them what to do.
Kibo staff asked them their plan for the day ( how many stoves did they plan to build that day. The group told her that they plan to build two stoves where by one they had already finished to stamp the dirt and they are stamping for the second one.
The community divided them selves into two where by each group had three men.
The group successfully built two stoves with joy and celebration as the community danced and sang songs of success as they worked.
At the end of teaching one member who got the first demonstration stove in this village ( salumini) asked when she should start using her stove.
Harriet together with the group walked to her home and found when her stove has completely dried and Harriet told her that the stove was ready to start cooking.
She set fire in her stove immediately and started cooking on it
When other members saw Salumini’s stove cooking they were eager also to cook on theirs but Harriet told them that they need to wait for one month from the time the stoves is built to start cooking on it.
This is because one month the stove would have dried completely, it will effectively work and the chances of it cracking will be minimal.
The community thanked Kibo staff for the encouragement and guiding them until they achieved stoves.
