Notes
Tom made a visit to kisiro village to hold a meeting with all the 8 chairmen from the new sections of kisiro that make up the greater kisiro village. When he arrived to the village he found when the committee members had mobilized the chairmen. Before starting the meeting, they first moved around in a few homes checking on sanitation and hygiene improvements in the trading center and it happened that one of the homes was a home of a chairman. Even though he had started on the pit, he still had a long way to go to finish his latrine and the fellow chairmen of the village condemned the fact that he was also one of the few people still without latrines. He said he would get it done in a short time. In another home they found when the construction on the new latrine has started. After checking on several homes, they came back to the meeting place where Tom requested them to each give an account of the sanitation and hygiene improvements in his section. They all discussed about the improvements in there sections and challenges as well. Each chairman was able to name some of the challenging homes but most importantly they had to each talk about there homes as well if they meet the standards of sanitation and hygiene improvements. One particular chairman pointed out because he has also not yet finished the latrine for his second home. He said and apologized to the rest of the other chairmen and said he would finish the latrine in a period of two weeks. They also brought up issues of the different sections especially regarding family neglect of children. In one particular home they reported that the house was about to collapse of children yet their father was not taking any actions. Tom suggested that they talk to the residents but also should report the case to the government officials. Tom also encouraged them to help improve the sections of other chairmen if there are many challenges one chairman can not handle. All the chairman appreciated what kibo has done in there village to improve it’s sanitation and hygiene standards. After the meeting, they all promised to work together and help each other to improve and achieve there set sanitation and hygiene standards before the third evaluation.
