Notes
Harriet,Henry,Fallon,Suzan,Sarah,Tape and Jeska were in Bulyowa together with the community development officer with the intention of thanking the community members for their involvement in the Healthy and Safe kitchen program. Kibo staff arrived the village and found the community members already gathered at the meeting place who happily welcomed them. The meeting was opened and led by the l.c 1 chairman of Bulyowa who welcomed and thanked Kibo staff for coming. He then let each of the committee members representing Kibo in their village introduce themselves one by one. The members went ahead and thanked Kibo group for the good programs that were so far implemented in-their community most especially the stove program which has effectively improved on their lives other programs were water sanitation and hygiene program that empowered them with the knowledge of improving and maintaining their home facilities. He also added that Kibo helped the community to fix their two boreholes and taught them how to take care of the future repairs by saving money on their borehole account. He also acknowledged the Mvule trees and the goats that Kibo gave all the members in his community where by most goats have now produced. In the meeting, the members expressed themselves especially the women saying that they no longer suffered from smoke inhalation, their children were safe from getting fire accidents and always cooked food on time. They also said the improved stove saved firewood and time for other activities to be done. During the meeting it was also observed that the Healthy and Safe kitchen program begun with thirty members from Bulyowa A who later taught / helped members in Bulyowa B also to get stoves where by they are now 64 members in the group. Harriet and Henry thanked all the community members of Bulyowa A and B for attending and participating in the stove program, they also thanked them for their unity and improved hygiene and sanitation. They also challenged those from Bulyowa A to learn from what Bulyowa A did for them and also help other neighboring communities. At the end of the meeting Kibo staff told them that because of their hard work Kibo has brought for them gifts to appreciate their hard work as well as encourage them to continue working together. These gifts were two big community source pans that the group can use Incase of funerals or parties or even hire them to generate money for the group. Kibo staff also gave each members soap to take home as a gift because building stoves required patience and commitment for it is dirty work. The chairperson of the Healthy and Safe kitchen program together ( wacko Andrew)with the group were very happy for un expected surprise of the gifts and said that they always lacked source pans to cook food from when ever they had functions but the Lord has answered their prayers through Kibo. The members got excited for the gifts and started dancing and singing songs of joy. The community development officer also encouraged the group to continue working together and promised that in case the government sends any development fund to the sub county , Bulyowa will be considered first. Harriet went ahead to encourage them to continue with the same spirit of working together as a team for an effective development. The chairperson of the meeting thanked kibostaff for good work and requested a volunteer to give a prayer to close the meeting.
