- Notes
- Harriet and Suzan found some participants waiting for them at the meeting place. As soon as they reached other members also turned up.
Kibo staff begun by reviewing the previous topic ( advantages of fuel efficient stoves) and this was intended to ensure that they all understand the purpose and the process of building stoves.
This was encouraging for the community to remind each other about what was discussed in the previous meeting which was a sign that they will guide each other to ensure that they learn and move together.
Kibo staff later taught them the materials required for building stoves like termite dirt, two old source pans,Hoes for digging termite from the anti hill,a shovel for creating a vent, banana stems to create different holes ( like for the cooking pots to sit on, for fire wood as well as oxygen) , grass to mix in the termite dirt, a panga for chopping grass, a basin for measuring grass and dirt and water.
She later asked the community whether these materials are freely found in their community and the community told her they are all in their community except grass because they did not know how it looked like.
Kibo staff walked with the community to the bush to search for grass. They found the grass Just behind the home where meeting was held and this encouraged the community and was a proof that all the materials are available and free in their community.
Kibo staff demonstrated to them how to chop grass and encouraged the participants also to participate because practice makes perfect. They also left them with an assignment of collecting grass and chopping it. The community thanked Kibo for their practical teaching and promised to work with them from the beginning to the end. The chairperson LC1 encouraged the community to always work together in order to prosper.
